About JEE Advanced 2020: JEE Advanced is a national-level entrance exam conducted to facilitate admissions to the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) and a few other colleges. JEE Advanced is the second entrance exam after JEE Main for students who are willing to seek admission to IITs. Every year, around 14-15 lakhs students appear for JEE Main. Candidates who clear JEE Main 2020 (Paper 1) and appear in the list of top 2,50,000 will be eligible to appear for JEE Advanced 2020 examination. In turn, only a few thousand aspirants among them who qualify in JEE Advanced will be selected for counselling and allotted seat in respective colleges. JEE Advanced is highly competitive and hence, demands a smart preparation plan to crack the exam. JEE Advanced 2020 Eligibility Criteria The following criteria, as per the JEE Advanced notification 2020, should be met by every student who is willing to appear for the IIT JEE Advanced 2020: 1. Performance in JEE Main 2020: Aspirant should be among the top 2,45,000 in JEE Main 2020 Paper 1. Age Limit: As per a recent ruling from the Supreme Court of India, candidates do not have to meet any age-limit criteria to appear for JEE Advanced 2020. Applicants of any age can apply for JEE Advanced 2020 until further notice. 3. Number of Attempts: Aspirants can appear for the exam only twice in consecutive years. 4. Appearance in Class XII Examination: Candidates must have appeared for their 12th class board exam or equivalent first time with all the subjects either in the year 2019 or 2020. Candidates who appeared for JEE Advanced in 2019 are eligible in 2020 as well. 5. Performance in Class XII Examination: For admission to IITs, candidates of General and OBC categories must have secured a minimum of 75% aggregate marks in their Class XII board examination (or equivalent). SC, ST, and PwD candidates should secure 65% in the exam. OR Candidates should be in the category-wise top 20 percentile in their Class 12 board exam or equivalent exam. Note: If a student clears Class 12 (or equivalent) in 2019 but is writing one of the required subjects in 2020 in improvement exams or for any other reason, the aggregate percentage is calculated considering the best marks secured in the required subjects. 6. Earlier Admission at IITs: A candidate should NOT have been admitted in an IIT irrespective of whether or not he/she continued in the program) OR accepted the IIT seat by reporting at a reporting centre in the past. The candidates whose admission at IITs was cancelled are also NOT eligible to appear in JEE Advanced 2020. Candidates who have been admitted to a preparatory course in any of the IITs for the first time in 2018 can appear in JEE (Advanced) 2020. The candidates who have paid seat acceptance fee but not accepted the seat (by not reporting at any reporting centre during joint seat allocation in 2019) are also eligible to appear in JEE Advanced 2020.

Important Points To Note: Note the following important points regarding JEE Advanced 2020: JEE Advanced 2020 will be conducted by IIT Delhi in the online mode (computer-based test). The exam timing for JEE Advanced paper 2 has changed. Paper 2 will be conducted from 2.30 pm to 5.30 pm. Before it used to be held from 2 pm to 5 pm. JEE Advanced 2020 will see a new examination centre in San Francisco. From the year 2020, JEE Advanced will be conducted in the United States as well. Due to the absence of JEE aspirants in Addis Ababa and Colombo, the exam centres here will be discontinued.

JEE Advanced 2020 Application Form Eligible candidates should register for JEE Advanced 2020 only through the online portal. Step-wise Registration Procedure: – 1st Step: Visit the official website of JEE Advanced 2020 at jeeadv.ac.in and log in using your JEE Main Roll Number and Password. After logging in, provide basic information, like the choice of the language of question paper (English or Hindi), the choices of the cities for the examination. You can also add another cell phone number on top of the number/s provided during JEE Main registration. Please note that the JEE Advanced 2020 result will be sent to one of these numbers by SMS. – 2nd Step: Upload the scanned copies of the following documents: Class 10 certificate OR birth certificate. Class 12 (or equivalent examination) certificate (for those who appeared for this examination in 2019 or whose board declared the Class XII (or equivalent examination) result after June 2018) If the name is not the same as in the Class X certificate, gazette notification showing the change of name. JEE Advanced 2020 Counselling Note the following points regarding JEE Advanced counselling 2020: The seats will be allocated by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA). All the candidates who are eligible for admission will have to participate in the joint seat allocation process by filling in their choices of the courses. The detailed instructions for filling-in the choices and the seat allotment procedure will be made available by JoSAA through Seat Allotment Brochure. The schedule of the joint seat allocation will be announced separately by JoSAA 2020. The list of courses that will be offered by the IITs for admission for the academic year 2020-2021 will be made available at the time of online filling-in of choices. Procedure For JEE Advanced 2020 Counselling: Students clearing the cut off marks will be eligible to appear for JEE Advanced counselling which has the following steps: Registration: Candidates need to go to the official website and register themselves using their Enrolment Number and Password. The registration is compulsory and free of cost. Choice Filling: Candidates will be asked to select the colleges of their choices. The colleges should be selected in the order of priority and preference. The most preferred college should be selected first and the least preferred option should be the last one in the list. Provisional Offer Letter & Confirmation Process: Once the student has entered his/her choices, JOSAA will allot the candidate a college depending on his/her ranks. and availability of seats. Document Verification: The following documents would be required for verification when the student goes for physical verification: a. JEE Advanced Provisional Seat Allocation Letter b. If a student wants to switch a college on account of the vacancy in other colleges, he will have to go and present himself again in the new college.
